On this channel I cover the histories of nations empires and people from all over the world. I especially enjoy focusing on areas that are covered less in the mainstream or examining a familiar topic from a different perspective. Historical topics are combined with animated maps and visuals that I draw, to hopefully condense complicated subjects into a understandable framework that will leave you wanting to learn more. I hope you enjoy these videos as much as I have enjoyed making them :) If you like what you see here then please consider supporting

Ghana Gold Export Ban: How Ghana is Challenging Dubai to Protect Its $20BN Gold Sector | Africa
Ghana Gold Export Ban: How Ghana is Challenging Dubai to Protect Its $20BN Gold Sector | Africa Kwabena Ofori Osei 11 Views • 14 days ago

Watch this video as Firstpost examines Ghana’s dramatic new move to tighten control over its gold trade and reshape how Africa’s natural wealth is extracted, processed, and exported. From September 1, Ghana will require unrefined artisanal and small-scale gold to be refined domestically before export, marking a major shift for Africa’s largest gold producer. Ghana produced a record six million ounces of gold in 2025, generating more than $20 billion in export earnings. The move builds on President John Mahama’s wider push for economic sovereignty and the Ghana Gold Board’s efforts to bring the country’s gold trade into the formal economy. But Ghana’s strategy goes beyond gold. Guinea, Mali and Burkina Faso are also pushing for greater state control, domestic processing and local value addition across Africa’s mining sector. The bigger battle is over who controls the gold value chain: African producers or foreign financial and refining hubs. Alyson Le Grange tells you more on Firstpost Africa.

Something Huge Is Hidden Beneath the Sahara Desert
Something Huge Is Hidden Beneath the Sahara Desert Ambakisye-Okang Dukuzumurenyi 33 Views • 5 years ago

In 2010, fossilized fish was uncovered 250 miles west of the Nile river, where the Sahara Desert was as arid as ever. This chance finding led scientists to believe there could’ve been sea where the Sahara is now, so they conducted a geological survey of the area. And it yielded unexpected results: they found evidence of something huge under the sands, and it wasn’t part of any sea at all.For several months, the research continued with GPS equipment on land, and later, when all the ground data was collected, scientists took a look at the area from a satellite. The view was astounding! Actually, in this area, ancient human settlements had been found previously, and now the researchers finally had the answer as to why exactly they had chosen those spots to live. By the way, did you know that whales had once been land animals that evolved into marine ones? We’ll talk about that too!#brightside
