The Pope is visiting the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) just after the big signing of cobalt and copper mines to the US and the discovery of massive South Sudan oil fields. Pope Francis's recent visit to Africa has been a highly anticipated event, not only for African Catholics but for the entire continent. The Pope's tour of Central Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was originally cancelled due to security concerns, but was later rescheduled and took place with great success.
