I must honor their wishes, and restore that which they longed for...a place, language, and culture thats theirs without the intervention of the white invaders/crusaders/missionaries.

"Moffou" -Salif Keita

In Senegal, baobabs have long served as tombs for griots, or storytellers. They're seen as sacred, as they house the spirits of the ancestors buried in their hollowed-out trunks. But due to the health risks of decomposing bodies, it's rare to find a community that still practices the tradition. The Serere are one of the last.

This week we look at expectations, whether created by ourselves, others, or our circumstances and environment. This burden we carry without realizing it. Often we fail to appreciate how expectations robs us of being whole, complete beings, with resolve and at peace from inside out.
